Driving in Mauritius
What is the legal age to rent a car in Mauritius?
The legal age to drive a car in Mauritius is 18 years and the driver must have one year driving experience.
Is an international driving license needed in Mauritius?
There is no need for an international driving license, a license from your home country is sufficient.
What side we drive on in Mauritius?
We drive on the left side of the road, similar to the as the Great Britain and Australia. The steering of all our cars are on the right side.
Are gasoline prices expensive in Mauritius?
Price of gasoline is affordable and fixed by the Government of Mauritius, thus all petrol stations will have same prices for fuel.
Is it easy to have parking space in Mauritius?
There are many free parkings available in small towns, in hypermarkets and in nearly all tourist attractions. Also free parking is available in all public beaches. In cities like Port Louis, Rose Hill, Quatre Bornes and Vacoas there are paid parking spots on the side of the roads. Parking coupons needs to be purchased (~ Rs. 100 for a pack of 10) in petrol stations and depending on the parking zone you may need 1 or 2 coupons for 30 mins.
Reservation
Do I have to make a reservation?
It is advisable to make a reservation as in peak season it can be difficult to get a car due to high demand. A reservation can be made by choose the car you need and filling booking request form and we will revert back to you after we receive your request. A deposit may be required for reservation.
What is the minimum rental duration?
The minimum rental duration is 3 days, however we can provide 2 days rental based on availability of cars.
Where is the car provided in Mauritius?
We can deliver the car at any address that you need. Many customers take their cars at the airport when they reach Mauritius and other prefer to deliver it at their hotels. You need to notify us beforehand about the location you want to pick up the car.
Payment
What are the methods of Payments for Car Rental?
You can make payment by bank transfer, paypal or alternatively by cash when you reach onsite. Send us a message and we can discuss how to proceed with payment.
Do I have to pay a deposit for my rental car?
Yes a deposit is needed and the amount depends on the car type and insurance options.
